Funeral services for Mr. Ray O’Neal Powell, age 75, will be held at 10 AM on Friday, June 30, 2023 in the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Humboldt with burial to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery near Trenton. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 PM until 8 PM at Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Ray Powell and Margaret O’Neal (Kernodle) Powell.
Mr. Powell was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ serving as a deacon for many years at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Humboldt, TN. He was an electrician by trade and after retiring from Procter & Gamble he and his wife moved to Camden, TN where they joined Chalk Hill Baptist Church and continued to serve the Lord. He loved to fish, travel and spend time with his family.
He was a generous, kind-hearted man who dearly loved his family and friends and was equally loved by all of them. He has left a huge hole in a very close-knit family, but they are comforted knowing he is now rejoicing in Heaven and that they will see him again one day.
Mr. Powell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Powell; two daughters, Tammy Graves (Bart) of Jackson and Terry Powell of Humboldt; a son, Andy Powell (Star) of Trenton; six grandchildren, Drew and Kendall Powell, Colton and Maddie Graves, Kaylee and Jordan Tice; a great granddaughter, Timber Anderson; a sister, Diane Taylor (Curtis); and a brother, Jerry Powell.
