Ray Lennan Rowlett – Obituary

rayRay Lennan Rowlett, age 88, Carlsbad, NM (formerly of Russellville, AL), passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Mr. Rowlett proudly served his country for over twenty years in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran in both World War II and the Korean War. He was highly decorated in both branches of the service, including Asiatic – Pacific Area 2 stars Medal, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Victory Medal (World War II), Purple Heart (1 Cluster), Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, and several other awards and recognitions.

Mr. Rowlett made many friends while he lived in Russellville. He loved to study the Bible and loved his church friends from North Russellville Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie J. Rowlett; his parents, Homer & Inez Rowlett; brothers, Carl and Joe; and sisters, Ramona & Jeanelle.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Velma Rowlett, of Carlsbad, NM; his children, Donna Entrekin (husband, Billy), Jimmy Dale Rowlett (wife, Linda), John Ed Rowlett (wife, Patsy), Janet Massey (husband, A.C.); 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The visitation and service times will be posted as soon as they are available. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens with full military honors.
