Ray E. Irons, 91 of Florence passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Visitation will be Monday, December 14, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Chuck Canterbury and Mike Irons officiating. Burial will follow at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Ray was a native of Florence, AL where he lived and farmed most of his life. He was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church and loved to sing and play gospel music. Ray was a loving, devoted, and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Alice Gann Irons; parents, Arnold and Nancy Irons; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters.
Ray is survived by his 3 sons, Kenneth Irons, Gary Irons, and Wendell Irons and wife Martha; 2 sisters, Lillian Vaden and Mary Bird; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Irons, Kelli Irons Bates, Matthew Irons, Adam Irons, Randy Irons, and Anna Irons; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael Irons, Hannah Bates, and Lyla Grace Irons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers are Kevin Irons, Matthew Irons, Adam Irons, Robert Gann, Dennis Neal, and Mike Bevis. Honorary pallbearer is Randall Irons.
The family expresses special thanks to Hospice Advantage and Linda, Brenda, Lois, Felicia, and Keisha.
