Ray Daniel Long, 84 of Madison, passed away on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Long was born on August 12th, 1939, in Leighton, Alabama, to William Edward and Bertha Chambers Long.
Mr. Long is survived by his son Larry Long (Stella); grandchildren Jeremie Shelton (Keri), Tiffany Brazelton (Shane), Ronnie Long (Misty), Chad Powers (Toni), and Anthony Long; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, 4 sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Long; son Ronald Gene Long; his parents William and Bertha Long; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and his most beloved dog Roscoe.
Funeral services for Mr. Long will be Monday, April 29th, 2024, at 11:00am at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Stuart Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00-10:45am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hester Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremie Shelton, Shane Brazelton, Mitch Marsh, Mickey Long, Joey Keeter, and Grant McPeak. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxton Brazelton and Kolten Shelton.
Mr. Long was a very special man. He enjoyed sports, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed.
