Ray Bryan, 81 of Lacey’s Spring, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. He was born in Tennessee and raised in Piedmont, Alabama. He is survived by his sister, Mayron; sons, Chris and Matthew; six grandchildren; and a multitude of friends and family.
Ray received his Bachelor of Business from Jacksonville State University. He had many early business ventures including owning Saint Claire Shores Marina where he met his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann, in 1973. The couple relocated to Huntsville, Alabama in 1975 where Ray worked for Universal Data Systems, and they raised their two sons until finally relocating to Lacey’s Spring in 1993.
Ray had two main hobbies that defined him in many ways. First was his love of competitive water skiing and second, his love of restoring classic cars. Water skiing showcased his competitive nature, discipline, and technique. Restoring classic cars truly showed his attention to detail, discipline, and work ethic.
After retiring from Universal Data Systems (Motorola) he devoted himself to his business of restoring classic cars until his retirement. He travelled to many car shows with his family and close friends, developed lasting relationships and many memories with this group.
Ray’s life was full of adventure, he did everything to the fullest. He was always ready to lend a hand to a friend in need, no matter when or where. He will be dearly missed.
