Randy Self passed away on June 9, 2024 at the age of 67, surrounded by his loved ones in his home in Bremen, Alabama. His long battle with renal cancer in the past year showed his courage in facing life challenges with stubbornness, determination, and a smile. Despite the immense struggle, Randy fought hard and stayed strong until the very end.
A man of many talents, Randy was a skilled mason and carpenter. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and trucks, loved being on the water in his boat, and if you had a question, he knew the answer.
He was known to be an excellent singer and enjoyed performing karaoke at many family get togethers. Always the life of the party, anyone that knew Randy had a great story or two to tell.
Randy was respected by everyone who knew him and he could always be counted on for some straight forward advice.
Randy had an avid love of animals and the outdoors; which showed his true compassionate nature.
Randy’s favorite meal was his momma’s cornbread and pintos, his favorite singer was Hank Williams, Sr., and his favorite pastime was sitting on his porch. Randy was a salt of the earth type of man until the very end.
Randy is survived by his mother, Edna Self Cagle; his children Stacy Self Tullos (David), Steven Self (Lauryn), Shawn Self, and Nikki Marino; his grandchildren, Devyn Self (Kaleigh), Elizabeth Blustein, Madison Gonzalez, Cassidy Gonzalez, Vincent Marino, and Peyton Marino; great grandchild Eleanor Arreola; his brothers, Kelton Jimmy Self (Connie), and Anthony Self; his sisters, Denise Hollis (Ted), Donna Campbell (Gary), and Bonnie Johns (Ronald), a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and numerous friends that call him family.
Randy was preceded in death by his father Herndon Self; his brother’s, Kenneth Self (Diane), Bobby Self, and Herndon Self, Jr. (Natalie).
His children would like to thank all of the family and friends who spent countless hours at the hospital, making meals, taking care of his home and pets, and caring for Randy during his last days.
