  Randy Keith Thigpen was born on June 14, 1957 and passed away on March 20, 2025, in Florence, AL, after an extended battle with cancer. Randy graduated from Rogers High School in 1975. He earned his B.S. in Management and Business Administration and his M.B.A. from The University of North Alabama, later completing postgraduate work at the University of Alabama and the University of Virginia. He began his law enforcement career as a patrolman with the Montgomery Police Department and the Florence Police Department, advancing rapidly through the ranks to Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Randy was also a skilled marksman, winning numerous competitions throughout his law enforcement career. During this time, he graduated from both the Montgomery Police Academy and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Birmingham School of Law.

Randy found joy in helping people through his law practice, which he founded in Florence, AL. During his career, he opened many satellite offices across Alabama and Tennessee. He primarily focused on real estate, founding Quality Title & Escrow, Inc. in 1997. He managed numerous businesses and properties throughout his successful, award-winning career. He will be missed by his work family and all those he had the privilege to serve alongside during his 32 years practicing law.

Outside of work, Randy enjoyed cheering on the Crimson Tide, RVing, exploring new places, golfing, farming, flying, and spending time with his family. Randy will be remembered as a hardworking, caring individual who will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and loved ones.

He is survived by children Brandon Thigpen, Austin Thigpen, Jonathan “Rhett” Thigpen, Bradley Thigpen, Heather Thigpen, one bonus child, Brian Behel and his wife, Cammie Behel, his grandchild Calvin Behel, as well as many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by wife Jennifer “Jenny” Thigpen, father Lonnie Buford “Boots” Thigpen, and mother Betty Jean Mitchell Thigpen.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Woodmont Baptist Church. A celebration of life service, led by Dr. Jackie Kay and Sheriff Rick Singleton, will begin at 1:15 p.m. at the church. Entombment will follow at Greenview Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Gary Beavers, Mickey Beavers, Charlie Fowler, Shawn Pickens, Dale Price, Robert Strickland, Daniel Taylor, Danny Thigpen, and Mark Tidwell. Jim Engelthaler and Randy’s loving family will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alabama State Bar.
