Randle Roberson, 99, of Florence, passed away May 13, 2023 after an extended illness. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army 483rd Anti-Aircraft Battalion attached to the 5th division of the Marines during the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was a member of St. John Methodist Church, Sheet Metal Workers Local 48 where he worked from 1946 to 1988, and honorary member of Shoals Frisbee Club. He was known as the “air conditioning man” working from home until the age of 96.

A visitation will be today, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Greg Burnett and Roger Reed officiating. A burial with military honors will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Roberson is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Polly Morris Roberson; parents, Luther Allen and Minnie Lee Roberson; sons, Randy, Ricky, and Doug Roberson; brothers, Earnest and Carl Roberson; sister, Aidene R. Pigg; and son-in-law, Ron Day.

He is survived by daughter, Linda R. Day; sister-in-law, Johnnie Roberson; and nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Hannah, Mike Lindsey, Tammy Lindsey, Dewayne Parker, Junior Haddock, and Terry Roberson.
