Randall Lee VandygriffRandall Lee Vandygriff, age 71, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Randall was born December 24, 1949, on the porch of his grandparents Mt. Pleasant home to the late Kenneth and Delores Dwyer Vandygriff.

Randall Lee Vandygriff was a lifelong resident of Mount Pleasant. It was there he found love, raised a family, worked hard, and played hard. Randall left school early as he was drafted by the United States Army with whom he served his country honorably. After he returned, he began working construction with his brothers and father. Eventually, Randall owned and operated a backhoe business. When he wasn’t working, Randall enjoyed many things, but he truly loved camping and fishing. He would go as often as he could, sharing much of that time with his children and grandchildren. He could also be found dirt tracking racing at Duck River Speedway or Thunder Hill after it opened. He also enjoyed playing softball most seasons or driving down to Mississippi with his wife Janice to try their luck in Tunica. At the heart of it, all Randall was a devoted family man. There was no shortage of quality time with him, whether that was camping, or racing with his son, or coaching softball for his daughters. He loved his family more than anything and good, bad, or ugly, he was always by their side. Near the end of his life, Randall spent much of his time camping with his NACO family, making innocent wagers and competing in cornhole tournaments.

Randall is survived by his children: Bubba (Tanya) Vandygriff, Tammy (Justin Hyatt) Green, Brandy Vandygriff, and Tara Vandygriff; grandchildren: Kaleb Vandygriff, Keenan Vandygriff, Aleaha Vandygriff, Caleigh Smith, Beckett Vandygriff, and Gia Secrest; great-grandchildren: Andrew Green, Jersey Mae Henderson, Karter Ray Vandygriff, Kabe Alan Vandygriff, and Oakleigh Ragsdale; siblings: Delta Vandygriff, Larry Vandygriff, Brenda Patterson. Randall is preceded in death by his wife Janice Vandygriff and grandson Cameron Green.
