Randall Gene “Randy” Malone, 59, of Cherokee passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Harris Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Chuck Bradford and Bro. Tommy West officiating. Burial will be at Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Randy, also known as “R.G.” was a retired engineer from Northfolk Southern Railroad where he worked for 37 years and was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Ray and Betty Jean Thompson Malone.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Thomason Malone; daughters, Ashley Whitaker and husband Jeffery, and Leah Gray and husband, Jordan; brother, Phillip Malone and wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Garrett Blake Whitaker and Brylee Kate Whitaker; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Gray, Jeffery Whitaker, Justin Weaver, Rod Wallace, Steve Pickering, Andy Wallace, Darren Wallace, and Mike Fuller.
Honorary pallbearers are Andre Taylor, Jimmy Wallace, Bobby Thompson, Jimmy Dale Thomason, Mike Worsham, Matthew Malone, and Randy Thompson.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Andre Taylor and Randy’s close friends.
