Funeral Services for Mr. Ralph Wayne Saxon, age 78 of Ashland, were held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Mike Hanners officiating. Burial was at Lystra Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashland.
Mr. Saxon passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home. Ralph was born on February 5, 1942 in Clay County where he lived all his life. He was one of 10 children born to Richard Saxon and Ollive Wright Saxon. Ralph enjoyed being outside, whether working, hunting or fishing. He owned and operated Ralph Saxon Logging Inc. since 1968.
Mr. Saxon is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Saxon; two daughters, Jennifer Saxon (Larry Griffin) of Lineville and Ollive (Christopher) East of Ashland; two sons, John M. Saxon (Melanie Waldrop) of Ashland and Wayne Saxon of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Jasmine Griffin Barkley, Gavin and Gabby East, Mollie and Jenna Saxon, Aaron Messer, Kendra and Acie Waldrop; two great-grandchildren, Gannon and Christian East; sister, Gaynell Peters of Newsite; brother, Roy Saxon of Ashland; and a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ollive Saxon; grandchild, Kane East; four brothers, Robert, Dwight, John M. and Bayward; and three sisters, Ezell Carter, Martha Perry and Lovena Gibson.
Active Pallbearers were Tim Saxon, Aaron Messer, Karl Pollock, Russell McKay, Richard Askew, Frank Gortney, Dewayne Nappier and Larry Griffin.
The family requests no flowers, contributions will be greatly appreciated or donations to St. Jude or a favorite charity in Mr. Saxon’s name can also be done.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of arrangements.
