Mr. Ralph Miles Rottgen, Jr., age 69, husband of Marilyn Rottgen, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 12PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Freedom in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10AM-12PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on December 30, 1950 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Ralph was the son of the late Ralph Miles Rottgen, Sr. and the late Doris Ruth Becker. He married Marilyn Kilbane on February 9, 1973 and together they had three children. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors where he worked as a millwright. Ralph was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step mother, Erma Rottgen of West Virginia; sons: Michael Paul Rottgen of Ooltewah, TN, Brian Martin Rottgen of Columbia, TN; daughter, Nora Patricia Rottgen of Columbia, TN; sisters, Karen Bendell of Ohio, Susan Yacovella of Ohio, Nancy (Dennis) Armstrong of Ohio, Carol Russell of Ohio, Sharon (Kenny) Roush of Ohio; step brother, Michael (Mickie) Goodnite of West Virginia; step sister, Angiela (Bill) Young of Texas; and grandchildren: Alyssa Parker and Troy Rottgen.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James A. Rebman.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Danny Staggs, Ron Meade, James McVeigh and Eddie Ables.
