Ralph Howard Sandlin, age 86 of Cordova, passed away on June 20, 2024. He was born on October 23, 1937 in Cordova, AL, and was a retired coal miner.

“Grandaddy” was a small town southern man who loved God, family, his country and his friends.  He was a veteran and flew the stars and stripes every day.  He was a good athlete and was inducted into the Walker County Sports Hall of Fame.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.  Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens.  Mark Lockhart will officiate.

Mr. Sandlin was preceded in death by his Wife-Paulette Sandlin; Parents-Howard and Mildred Sandlin; Brother-Wes Sandlin; Sister-Joan Sandlin.

He is survived by his Daughters-Sabra Brown and Wendy Courington; Son-in-law-Steve Courington; Sister-Donee Harbison; Grandchildren-Jason Courington (Mary Catherine), Landon Courington, Chloe Brom (Andy) and Stori Brown; Great Grandchildren-Shelby Claire Courington, Trek Wayne Brom and Pria Jayne Brom.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Long Memorial United Methodist Church, Mission 34 in Cordova or Cordova Fire Department.
