Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from noon until 1 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Ernest McKinnon will officiate.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Lay; father, Knolton Gay; brother, James H. Gay; and grandparents, Oscar and Jenny Gay and Jess and Emma West.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Gay; son, Timothy R. Gay (Glenda); daughter, Lisa Reed; grandchildren, Christy Chattom and Chad Edwards (Amber); great-grandchildren; Braxton Chattom, Addyson Edwards, Gavin Edwards and Ellianah Edwards; sisters; Ann Busby, Linda Tingle, Glenda Thomas, Brenda Bentley, Sharon Warren and Charlotte Aaron; aunt, Lois West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was a God loving man. He enjoyed camping with many many friends and listening to dulcimer music. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
