Funeral for Ralph Edward Newsom, 63, of Decatur will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Rev. Hal Daigre officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation wll be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Newsom, who died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at home, was born September 9, 1951, in Madison County to Lawrence and Maxine Hall Newsom. He retired from Goodyear Mills. He enjoyed bowling, walking and hiking. His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Newsom and Stacy Newsom; two daughters, Amber Miller and Heather Sartor; six grandchildren, Nick, Andrew, Nathan and Noah Sartor, Gavin Miller and Crystal Newsom; one brother, Ray Newsom; and five sisters, Frances Owens, Faye Smith, Kaye Norton, Suzie McBride and Mary Lou Hill.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Owens, Lynn Owens, Zack Norton, Ricky Smith and Brent Luke. Honorary pallbearer will be Lyle Hill.
