Ralph Douglas Foster, 88, of Tuscumbia, AL was called home to be with the Lord December 16, 2015. He was born in Red Rock, AL March 29, 1927 to Joe and Sarah Agnes Sherrod Foster. Ralph graduated from Cherokee Vocational High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from David Lipscomb College in 1950. He was happily married to Lisabeth Morris Foster for 64 years and 4 months.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Lisabeth; four children Douglas Allen Foster of Abilene, TX and his wife Linda, Denise Foster Willingham of Florence and her husband David, Dale Sherrod Foster of Memphis and his wife Lee Ann, and Diann Foster Durdunji of Florence and her husband Sami; eight grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Foster Riedel and her husband Derek, Mark Douglas Foster, Joshua David Willingham and his wife Ginger, Sherrod Rose Foster, Haley Grace Foster, Russell Sami Durdunji and Colton Sami Durdunji; and five great grandchildren, Gavin Joseph Riedel, Gwyneth Abigail Riedel, Rhett Joshua Willingham, Ryder Jon Willingham, and Rogan Jaynes Willingham.
Ralph was a pillar of strength in the Tuscumbia Church of Christ teaching and serving as an elder there for over 40 years.
He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, having served his country honorably in the US Army on two occasions.
He was active in the Tuscumbia business community working as the Office Manager of Morris Motor Company for over 40 years.
Ralph was active in and a past president of the Tuscumbia Civitan Club. He was active in the American Legion and traveled to Washington as a presidential honoree in 2008.
Ralph was an avid sports fan and supported his teams on the local, state and national level, and experienced the thrill of seeing his grandson play in baseball’s World Series in 2014.
Ralph was also an avid fan of Christian education and served on the board of Mars Hill Bible School for 10 years.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Agnes Foster; his sisters Catherine Foster Box, Rose Foster Brewer, and Peggy Foster Rush Stevens; his son Dean Morris Foster; and his grandson Jon Robert Willingham.
His Funeral will be held at the Tuscumbia Church of Christ, 2:00 pm Friday December 18, 2015 with visitation beginning at 11:00.
