Rachel Jane Thompson Rachel Jane Thompson (McAdams), 67, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, at her residence. She is survived by her husband Eric Thompson; daughter April Brooks (Brandon), son Matthew Thompson; grandchildren Aidan Brooks, Luke Brooks, and Adam Thompson; and sister Marie Lucas. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Leland Lois McAdams and Evaline Miles McAdams; and brother Bobby McAdams.

Rachel was born in Athens, AL on April 18, 1956. She graduated from Tanner High School in 1974. She was a beloved wife, mother, friend, and NeNa. She embodied the best of qualities; unconditional love and unending generosity that was evident in her care for friends, family, and others. Rachel was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Athens, serving in the choir and the women’s ministry. Rachel loved the Lord and was passionate about helping those less fortunate. In addition to her service to her church, Rachel also volunteered with the Limestone County Churches Involved ministry. Rachel had a vibrant personality and accepted everyone with an open heart and big smile. She was a perpetual light to those around her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson will be Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Father Tom John officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00-1:45pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Limestone Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brandon Brooks, Aidan Brooks, David McAdams, Charlie McAdams, Eric Whitt, and Mark Lucas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Limestone County Churches Involved (LLCI), 201 N. Jefferson Street Athens, AL 35611, which was a cause near and dear to her heart.
