His favorite hobby was planting, harvesting and giving away the fruits of his labor to family and friends. Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; four children, John Brooks, Nancy Kennedy, Jeffrey Moreland (Cindy) and Michael Shane Brooks (Jenny- daughter of his heart); five grandchildren, Chasity Henderson, Hailey Beardslee, Kaitlin Moreland, Kylee Brooks, Rylee Brooks; step grandchildren, Sierra and Christian Thompson; four great grandchildren; brothers, Ricky Brooks (Kay) and Rudy Brooks (Shirley); sisters, Bernice Jackson and Carrie Brock; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Paul, and Harry Brooks; and five sisters, Manerva Samples (Chet), Sally Dobbins (Charles), JoAnn Isom (Frank), Pat Woodruff (Darrell) and Marcia Nelms (Grady). Mr. Brooks was a faithful Christian, active member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, and founder of the Pinecrest Weekend Snackpack Program. He was also an active Gideon who loved handing the Word of God to school children and to students at Northeast MS Community College. His greatest desire in life was to tell everyone he knew and met about his Jesus. That is his legacy.
