Through Old Ground is a collection of stories from Dr. Cross’s life, from childhood to adulthood. These stories not only capture the experiences of a small-town Southerner turned English professor, but they also display Dr. Cross’s wit and magnificent storytelling skills.
Dr. Cross has written numerous scholarly articles and reviews in academic journals like American Literature, The South Atlantic Review, and the Mark Twain Journal. He also co-edited the autobiography of T.S. Stribling, Laughing Stock (ISBN 978-0-817350-59-8), which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Originally from St. Joseph, Tennessee, Dr. Cross lives in Decatur, Alabama, and is a retired English professor from Calhoun Community College. Dr. Cross is a two-time Fulbright Scholar, having taught in Portugal and Brazil, and he is a retired lieutenant colonel from the Tennessee Army National Guard.
