Public invited to see Athen’s public CNG station

Athens logo featuredATHENS-The public is invited to a Sept. 4 event to learn more about the Athens Gas Department’s new public compressed natural gas station.

 

The fast fill station is the only public one located along the Interstate 65 Corridor between Birmingham and Nashville.

 

The event will be at 9:30 a.m. at the CNG station at 1755 Trigreen Drive at the entrance to the Sportsplex on U.S. 31.

 

The Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Gas Department Manager Steve Carter and Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks will explain the city’s efforts to go green and save on fuel costs. Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition Executive Director Mark Bentley will address the importance of this project as part of a statewide effort on the use of clean fuels.
