FLORENCE- On June 30, at 8:00 pm, during the Stars & Guitars event intermission at Wilson Park, Mayor Andrew Betterton will proclaim June 30-July 2, 2023 as Pryce Holcombe Weekend and present Pryce a Key to the City for winning a Gold Medal for Golf at the 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.
Pryce Holcombe will parade in a red convertible with a police escort from the Florence-Lauderdale Coliseum to Wilson Park for the proclamation. Council Member Jimmy Oliver will host the ceremony, and afterward, Pryce will be available for autographs.
The Stars & Guitars event featuring the Dixie Mafia will be at Wilson Park from 7 – 9 pm. The public is encouraged to wear Red, White, and Blue to celebrate the July 4th holiday.

About Pryce: Pryce Holcombe of Florence, Alabama, has been involved with Special Olympics for 17 years, starting with golf skills in Illinois at the age of 8. In Alabama, Pryce trained and competed in athletics and golf. Pryce will represent Special Olympics USA competing with his father, Les, his Unified partner, in golf. He and his father competed in the 2019 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship in Tennessee and in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games.
Pryce is involved with the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine and had the experience of personally meeting Tebow. He attended the University of North Alabama as part of the first Lion Buddies program class, a Collaborative Special Education program for students with intellectual disabilities. After graduation, Pryce is now employed part-time at Foodland, a grocery store chain.
Pryce is excited to, yet again, share the course with his father at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.
