Priscilla Holley Burnum, age 93, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Hanceville Nursing Home Rehab Center, Hanceville, Alabama. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Peck Funeral Home, Hartselle, Alabama. A Graveside funeral service for Priscilla Holley Burnum will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur, Alabama, with Brother Jeff Steele officiating.
Priscilla was born November 3, 1930, in Montgomery, Alabama to Willie Roy Holley and wife, Esther Avant Holley. After graduating from Sidney Lanier High School (Montgomery) and attending the University of Montevallo, she moved to Hartselle, Alabama, in the 1960’s with her husband Charles Gwin Burnum, an Army Veteran and 40+ year Wolverine Tube engineer.
Priscilla was a devout Christian, loving wife and mother and a Hartselle First Baptist Church member for 60+ years. She enjoyed gardening with her numerous flowers, puzzling, hummingbirds, cooking for her family, dogs, family reunions and traveling. She traveled in younger years to Egypt, Italy, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Israel, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, Washington D.C., Michigan, Florida, West Virginia, and many other exotic places. Her fearless colorful life ranged from living in Austria in her early 20’s, successfully raising four children, to riding a camel and viewing the pyramids in Egypt in her early 80’s.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Gwin Burnum, father: Willie Roy Holley, mother: Esther Avant Holley, sister: Norma Kate Parker and sister: Doris Dalack.
She was survived by her four children: Lisa Burnum Coffey (Harold), James Roy Burnum, Thomas Michael Burnum (Christi), and John Eric Burnum (Barbara), her half-sisters: Jackie Holley Moffitt (Bill) and Patricia Holley Springfield (Lewis), four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
