Priceville Police Chief Injured In Shooting; Suspect Dies From His Injuries

MORGAN COUNTY-On Monday, January 24 the Priceville Police Chief was injured following a shooting that took place near Emory Drive in Priceville.  The suspect in the shooting was also shot and died from his injuries.

According to authorities with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department Priceville Police were called regarding a suspicious person in the area around 2:15 PM on Monday.  When officers arrived on scene shots were exchanged.

Priceville Police Chief Rick Williams was later identified as the police officer shot.  He was transported to Decatur General Hospital and later released with minor injuries.  The Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn said the suspect in the shooting, Bradley James Ellison, 48 was also shot and transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Priceville Police Department was assisted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Somerville and Decatur Police Department’s and Alabama State Troopers.
