TUSCUMBIA-This past Saturday a group of people who love and care for August Borden met at the waterfall in Spring park for a moment of prayer and support for August.

Yellow is August’s favorite color and many of the people assembled in the park wore this color. Karleigh Grace, organizer for the prayer event said, โ€œWeโ€™re stronger together than fighting this all alone, mentally and physically.โ€

August was airlifted to UAB with life-threatening injuries on August 19.ย  He spent 2 days in the hospital in Birmingham and is now home with his family recovering from his injuries. It is still uncertain just how August was injured on campus at Dreshler High School after working out in the weight room with other players from the football team.

According to August’s mother, Kristen Van Devender, August sleeps alot and still has headaches and vision problems due to his injuries.ย  She also stated she was grateful for the love and support from the community and it makes the family feel good to know that so many people care for August.

Kristen also said they will not stop asking questions concerning August’s injuries as long as there are questions as to how August was so severely injured unanswered. Van Devender is hopeful someone will come forward and answer the question….How was August injured?

This incident is under investigation by the Franklin County Juvenile Probation Officeย  along with other law enforcement agencies.
