FLORENCE-Popular Southern author Lisa Patton will visit Florence-Lauderdale Public Library on September 10 and 11 for two special events, one ticketed and one free. The ticketed event will be on Monday, September 10 at 5:30 pm. The $40 ticket will include dinner and a copy of Patton’s latest book Rush. A free event will take place on September 11 at 11:30 am. Books will be available to purchase at the free event.
Lisa Patton spent over twenty years in the music industry before discovering her passion for novel writing. A breast cancer survivor, Lisa is now the bestselling author of the beloved Dixie series, which includes Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’Easter, Yankee Doodle Dixie, and Southern as a Second Language. Born and raised in Memphis, Lisa now lives in Nashville, TN.
Lisa’s new novel, Rush, is set inside a fictional sorority house at Ole Miss. The book provides not only a gaze inside the most exclusive sorority recruitment in the country, but at the relationships between the sisters and the staff.
Fannie Flagg, the New York Times bestselling author of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, said of the book, “There’s not a better Southern author writing today than Lisa Patton.
Funny, touching, and full of twists and turns. I couldn’t have loved it more.”
Tickets for the September 10 event must be purchased in advance and are available at www.flpl.org/rush and at the library.
