Phyllis Spires Salyer – Obituary

phyllisMemorial services for Phyllis Spires Salyer will be held Thursday, Aug. 4, at 5 p.m. at Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Phyllis was born in Augusta, Georgia on April 3, 1947. She graduated from Evans High School and attended Augusta College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Salyer.

Mrs. Salyer, age 69, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at UAB Hospital surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her only daughter, Tracy; one grandchild, Christian; and her only brother, Archie Spires, of Columbus Georgia.

Mrs. Salyer was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama for many years and retired as an administrative secretary from Calhoun Community College in 2011. She later moved to Panama City Beach to be near her daughter. She became a member at Woodlawn United Methodist Church and was known for her kindness and generosity. Her ashes will be scattered at sea in a private family ceremony.
