Phyllis F. Branner, 81, of Hazel Green, passed away on Thursday evening while surrounded by her loving family.  Phyllis, known as “Grammy” to her grandchildren, lived a full, rich and meaningful life.

Phyllis was born in 1941 in Humboldt, Tennessee and then spent her formative years in Bibb County, Centreville, Alabama.   After moving to North Alabama, she graduated from Huntsville High School in 1960 and was voted “most outstanding” in her senior class.   She then attended Auburn University and remained a passionate supporter of the university throughout her life.

She was employed with Dr. Joel Hardin as his dental practice office manager.  Later, she was employed by Alabama Pediatric Dental Associates.   Throughout her professional life, she cherished her “work-family” and was devoted to serving patients – touching many lives and developing many friendships along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  Her biological father, Parker Fondren who was killed in World War II, her step-father who loved her as his own, Bobby Stacy who died in 2007,  by her mother, Willie Wynn Stacy who died in 2005, and by her sister, Linda Wynn Ferguson who died in 2020.

Surviving family members include her husband of 62 years, Mr. Ken Branner; Her children:  Kelly (Earl) Hudson, Tom Branner, Stacy Walker, and Phillip Branner;  Her grandchildren:  Lauren (Jeremy) Hicks, Leslie Hudson, Morgan Williams, Paris (Jordan) Milar, Avery Branner, Ireland Branner, Brandon (Brittany) Branner, and Zac (Katie) Branner;   Her two great-grandchildren, Silas Williams and Bynlee Kate Branner;  She is also survived by her brother, Buddy Stacy and by many friends.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday at 2pm at Mt. Zion Cemetery in the Monrovia community.

Mrs. Branner will be remembered for her Christian faith, her servant-heart, her kind words, and her love for dogs.  She loved others, had a sweet spirit, and demonstrated her faith by always putting others before herself.   Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
