Phyllis “Boots” Richards, 78, of Rogersville, passed away at her residence Monday, August 8, 2022. Phyllis proudly served 12 years in the United States Army as a nurse. This allowed her to make friends worldwide, which held such a special place in her heart. Boots will forever be remembered as being loving, caring and always willing to help anyone any way she could. The family finds peace in knowing she is finally back with the love of her life; “Cougar”.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 12th at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1828 Broadway Boulevard in the Activity Room. Friends will be welcome to visit from 1-2 p.m. and a service will follow.
Boots is preceded in death by the love of her life, Herbert “Cougar” Richards; parents, Millard F. and Virginia Crowden; brother, Sonny Crowden; niece, Angie Crowden and son, David E. Burgert. She is survived by her son, Scott Burgert; granddaughter, Brittany Burgert; great-grandson, J.D. Eggleston; sister, Martha Orick; special cousins, Kathy and Patrick Flynn; numerous members of extended family and a host of friends.
The family deeply appreciates all the love and support that has been shown to Ms. Phyllis over the years from her friends locally, and all over the world. She adored each and every one of you. The family would also like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to her caregiver, Georgia Smith, for the care and compassion you have shown her.
