Phyllis Barmer Profile Photo Funeral services for Phyllis Barmer, 72 of Corinth are set for Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Magnolia Funeral Home – EAST with interment in Magnolia Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 5:30pm – 8pm and Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 10am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home – EAST. Phyllis began her journey in life on April 11, 1951 and through the years she was a friend to many and respected by all who knew her. She completed her journey in this life on Sunday, November 12, 2023 and was greeted in heaven by her granddaughter, Jasmine Barmer, who preceded her in death on July 30, 1998. Her greatest desire was for her children and grandchildren to know and love Jesus. Her life verse ws Proverbs 3: 5 and 6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” As a member of Oakland Baptist Church, she learned that her gift was serving and she exhibited this gift by bringing home cooked meals to those who were sick and in need. Phyllis had a love for recipes and trying new foods, but her favorite was pinto beans and cornbread. When Phyllis wasn’t traveling and seeing God’s creation, she loved to read. There was never a shortage of books in her home. Many laughs were had with her sisters as they traveled cross country to visit the Grand Canyon. In her life she saw many mountain ranges but her favorite was the Smoky Mountains. Phyllis worked in accounting for different business and added friends at each of these. She preferred to get to work early and have quite time by herself. Those left to honor her memory are her sons, Scott Barmer (Susan Ray) and Nathan Barmer (Ana); grandchildren, Quiton Barmer, Logan Barmer, Chloe Wilbanks (Stephen) and Sophia Barmer; great grandchild, Caleb Barmer; sisters, Gail Cook and Gwen Haynes (Danny); other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Angie Cook; granddaughter, Jasmine Barmer; brother, Bobby Joe Cook and sister, Brenda Cook Starnes. In Lieu of flower a contribution in memory of Phyllis can be made to Tommy Vincent Ministries or St. Jude Hospital. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Ms. Phyllis Barmer.
