Phillip was a 1961 graduate of Boaz High School. He attended Snead State College and the University of Alabama. After leaving college Phillip became an insurance agent for Sentry Insurance and Prudential Insurance Company’s. Phillip later opened Consolidated Real Estate and Insurance as one of the first Real Estate Brokers in Marshall County. Phillip later went into partnership with his Uncle Bruce Smith and they ran J & M Foodland & Restaurant. After selling J & M Foodland Phillip was in the metal building construction and rental business until his retirement in 2002 due to numerous health problems. Phillips hobbies were fishing, remodeling buildings, refurbishing tractors and cars. Phillip loved the Chihuahua dogs that were like children. Phillip was a 50 year member of the Masons and Shriner.
