Mr. Phillip Ralph Avrett, age 84, passed away late Tuesday at Briarwood in Lexington. He was born March 20, 1939 in Scotts Hill to the late Grady and Blanche Duck Avrett. He was a U. S. Army Veteran stationed in Korea. He worked as chief engineer on a tow boat for over 20 years, installed walk-in coolers for his cousin Marvin for 10 years, and worked in Maintenance for First Bank for 10 years. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church and the Scotts Hill Lions Club. Known as “Ralph Avrett from Scotts Hill”, he never met a stranger and was friendly to all. He was Mr. Fix It and enjoyed fishing, farming, spending time at the river, and watching Tennessee Sports. He also enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states!
He was preceded in death by his brother, Grady Avrett, Jr. Survivors include his son, Phillip Bruce Avrett; his two daughters, Vickie Lynn Bourland (Scott) and Sharon Marie Whitten; special friend; Danny Jowers; four grandchildren, Reeves, Eliza, Kevin, and Brandi; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, March 17, 2023 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Doe Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 11 AM- 9 PM and on Sunday, 11 AM – 2 PM.
