Phillip R. “Big Man” Rainey, age 72, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Monday, October 30th, 2023, at NHC Oakwood.
He was born July 13th, 1951 in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to the late Jessie F. and Martha Christine Smotherman Davenport. He retired from Durango Boot Company and was a member of the The Lord’s House of Prayer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Joyce McKnight Rainey, one son, Randall Rainey, and one sister, Geraldine Adams.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Dalton of Lewisburg, and Renee King of Alabama, six sisters, Shirley Puckett of Shelbyville, Martha Selby of Cookeville, Beverly Flores of Petersburg, Linda Moreno of Rock Island, Doris Auxier of Shelbyville, and Carrie Sparks of Shelbyville, and three brothers, Wayne Davenport of Texas, Larry Davenport of the Philippines, and Michael Carlton of Cookeville. Five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Aspen Hill Cemetery in Giles County with burial to follow.
Visitation with the family will be held at London Funeral Home and Crematory 324 W. Church St Lewisburg, Tn 37091 on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with funeral expenses.
