Phillip Bruce Jones, age 74, a proud resident of Dora, went on to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Mr. Jones was born to the late Malcolm and Bobbie Snead Jones. After graduating from Dora High School, Phil joined the US Navy (being attached to the USMC) where he served two tours in Vietnam and the distinction of 20 years of service; being awarded the Purple Heart as well as many other honors. After his retirement from the Navy, he once again devoted his life to public service as a police officer for his hometown of Dora. Using his G.I. Bill, he was able to complete his training and obtain his A.P.O.S.T.C. certification at the University of Alabama. He also worked for the State of Alabama Employment assisting people in search of employment. His passion for helping others extended into his lifelong membership with the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis. They shared a love for 31 years. His children, Shae Jones Wolfe, Shane Palmer and his wife Christy, and Shawn Palmer; grandchildren, Colby Lucas, Camille Lucas, Payton Glasscock and her husband Bennett, Presley Ridgeway and her husband Bryant; Tara Gibson, and Drew Holden; great grandchildren, Kayden Smith, Logan Smith, and Serenity Smith; nieces, Erin Dill and Caitlyn Thursby; as well as several friends and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Mark Jones; a sister, Pamela Mees; and a nephew, Sean Moore.

A service will be held with family and friends June 25, at 2:00 PM at Aldergate United Methodist Church to celebrate the life of Mr. Jones with Sammy Hodges officiating.
