Phil graduated from Samford University in 1982 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985. He was a compassionate pastor, devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather. He was also a loyal friend to many. Phil was an avid reader and a serious Alabama football fan, working with Tide EMS in the First Aid room for fans at the games. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Houston, Texas and served as Fire Chaplain in Titusville, Fl. He loved going on mission trips and sharing the love of Jesus. Phil’s sense of humor and passion for life endeared him to all he met.
Before he began his pastoral ministry, he was Associated Pastor of Education and Youth in Brent, Alabama, Houston, Texas and Titusville, Florida. He served as Pastor in Luverne, Tuscaloosa and Mobile, Alabama. His last ministry position was Men’s Minister at 3Circle Church in Fairhope, Alabama. When he became paralyzed and unable to continue as a Pastor, he still ministered by leading a Bible Study Group at 3Circle. His life, through adversity, was an inspiration and encouragement to all those around him. He had a very genuine and pure heart.
