Philip David Douglas – Obituary

Philip David Douglas, age 90 of Jasper, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Walker Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Douglas was a World War II veteran.  He volunteered at age 17, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Ocean Theater.  He spent his career working in the coal mining industry, including positions as superintendent for Alabama Power at Gorgas Mines and later as manager-fuel field operations section for Southern Company Services.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.  Howard Thompson will officiate.

Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by his Daughter-Dr. Joan Douglas Domnanovich; Father-A. Alonzo Douglas; Mother-Velma Price Douglas; 6 Brothers; 2 Sisters

He is survived by his Wife-Doris Faye Douglas, they married November 1, 1947; Daughter-Joyce Crump (Philip); Sons-Greg Douglas and Gary Douglas both of Jasper; 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, Indian Creek Youth Camp or another charity of your choice.
