Peter M. Griffin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend, passed peacefully in Woodbury, Tennessee on June 10, 2024 at the age of 87.
Born in Ohio, Peter was in the Navy when he met Judy. They moved to Livermore, California in 1962, where he worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for over 30 years in the Technical Information Department. After an early retirement, he worked as a consultant and later obtained his real estate license, specializing in vacation homes in Truckee. He continued to work with clients remotely after he and Judy moved to Tennessee in 2009 to be close to family.
Peter was a scoutmaster, gardener, photographer, backpacker, golfer, bicyclist, skier, chief griller and chef extraordinaire, and dog lover. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Judith (Johnson) Griffin, their two children Daniel Griffin and Shelly McCormack, granddaughter Jillian (Jeramie) Maxwell, great-granddaughter Anna, and a multitude of family and friends.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, 1488 Lascassas Pike in Murfreesboro, Tennessee from 2:00 until 4:00pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to:
