Pete Welch, age 76, of Detroit, AL passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 2:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Carter Cemetery. Bro. Reagan Rye to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Pete was born on August 5, 1945 in Pickens County, AL to the late C.L. Welch and the late Laudice Stokes Rushing. He was a graduate of Hale County High School. Pete served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He co-owned and operated Piggly Wiggly in Sulligent and worked at Hyster for 15 years. He was a previous member of North Lamar Rescue Squad, Emergystat, and Detroit Livery Stables. Pete was an avid Alabama Football Fan and enjoyed mud racing, wagon riding, and horses.
