Percie Dee Meek, age 80, died at his home Sunday morning August 9, 2015.
Mr. Meek was born and reared at Adamsville, the son of the late Dee Franklin and Vivie Arno Walker Meek. He went to schools at Adamsville and in 1956 married Shelby Jean Landreth. He entered the U. S. Army in 1957, did basic training at Fort Smith, AR and served his overseas duty in France. After the service they lived at Adamsville and moved near Finger in 1964 where they farmed. He particularly loved raising cattle. They moved to south of Henderson in 2007.
Mr. Meek was a member of Old Friendship Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school director, and deacon.
He is survived his wife Jean Landreth Meek, three sons; Ronnie D. Meek and wife Kathy of Henderson, Steve A. Meek of Adamsville, and Jeff D. Meek and wife Michelle of Henderson, a daughter Debbie Meek Naylor and husband Ronald of Finger, a brother Jimmy Meek of Stantonville, three sisters; Betty Gilliam of Waverly, Mary Sue Phillips of Adamsville, and Brenda Buckley of Philadelphia, MS, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sarah Grace Meek in 2007.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Frank Crosby, Bro. Glen Harris, and Bro. Iran Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday.
