On the afternoon of July 4th, 2020, Penny Kaye Schadegg (Grizzell) of Reno, NV, daughter of IJ and Laurel Grizzell, was granted the privilege of going home to walk and talk and tarry with her LORD in the Garden at the age of 66. Just like Him, Penny was a “collector of broken people,” who never knew a stranger, and who truly was an example of loving her neighbor as herself. Penny was a native of Middle Tennessee and called Capistrano Beach, CA and Reno, NV her home for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ since childhood. A successful entrepreneur, Penny owned her own business for over 30 years, which allowed her to travel and impact many lives all over the country. All were welcome in Penny’s home, but especially if you were hungry for black eyed peas on New Year’s, brisket on the 4th of July, a full spread of her mother Laurel’s recipes on Thanksgiving, or a bowl of homemade chili on Christmas Eve. She loved everyone “like her heart.” She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Joseph Schadegg (Reno, NV), her six children, Shari Harp (Double Oak, TX), Sandra Yates (Richardson, TX), Michael Schadegg (Fort Worth, TX), Heather Hickman (San Clemente, CA), Heath Schadegg (Corinth, TX) and Andrew Schadegg (Reno, NV), 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings, Dwight Grizzell, Freda Clifton, Ricky Grizzell, and Kenneth Grizzell. A memorial will be held for Penny at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN on Saturday, August 15th at 1:00 PM with burial of her ashes to follow at the Salem Cemetery in McMinnville, TN.
