Peggy Newland, 53, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Peggy was born in Huntsville, Alabama on December 19, 1967, to Lee Roy and Ulean Heatherly. She was the mother of five daughters and grandmother to five grandkids. Peggy worked at Red Hanger cleaners for 15 years or longer and loved her job in customer service. All her customers loved her and followed her to whichever store she moved to. Peggy never met a stranger, she loved to talk to anyone that would listen, and she would give you the last penny she had if you needed it. She was strong and hard-headed, but she loved to be loved and loved to love. She had a smile that would light up any room and her laugh was the most contagious.
Peggy loved playing bingo and going to the casinos. She would never turn down a hand of poker. Getting together with her family to play cards was her favorite thing to do. She loved listening to music of all genres and trying to “sing” along even though she didn’t know the words.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Lee Roy, her daughter, Stephanie, and her sister, Theresa. Survivors include her mother, Ulean; her four daughters, Tonya, Cassandra (Justin) Jamie and Chasity; grandchildren, Jonathan, Alexis, Joshua, Jontain, and River; brothers, Tim, Richard, and Lee Roy Jr.; sisters, Janet and Marcy (Chad); several nieces and nephews; and her fur-grandbabies, Charlie, Nina, and Olly.
A celebration of life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Huntsville Christian Church (171 Indian Creek Rd, Huntsville, AL 35806) with Minister John Lancaster officiating.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at https://cholangiocarcinoma.org/newland/
