Peggy McMahan Linville, formally of Florence, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and at peace in God’s love.
Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2016, at Woodmont Baptist Church Chapel, in Florence from 11 AM to 1 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Kevin Reese and Leisa Lowery Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mrs. Linville was born in Asheville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Charles Lee McMahan and Mabel Clara Franklin McMahan. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 47 years, Osbie “Hot” Linville, as well as two sisters, Charlene J. McMahan and Nell F. McMahan and two brothers, Charles Lee McMahan, Jr. and Franklin E. McMahan.
Mrs. Linville is survived by her daughters, Tonya Linville Phelps (Doug) and Tamra Linville Koger (Gary); three grandchildren, Riley Cayman Reed, Alexandra Lee Koger, and Luke Linville Koger; sister, Patricia McMahan Walters; special pets, “Jackson” and “Kissie Puttins”; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Peggy was a graduate of Sand Hill High School and attended the University of North Alabama. She was a long-time employee of Allen Thornton Vocational School. In retirement, she devoted herself to her family, gardening and singing in the choir of the Woodmont Baptist Church where she and Hot had been members for more than 40 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her laughter was contagious and her generosity was limitless. She will be greatly missed.
