Peggy Jones Holt, 78, of Alexandria, Va., died Saturday, June 22, 2013.
Mrs. Holt was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Florence, Ala. to William Amos and Minnie Jones. She graduated from Coffee High School in 1952, and attended Florence State Teacher’s College. She married Daniel “Rex” Holt, of Cloverdale, Ala., on June 26, 1954. She was a faithful Christian, loving wife and mother, moving along with her husband and family to several duty stations around the world. She was active in the Garden Club of Waynewood, PTA, the Officers’ Wives’ Club, and served as President of the Washington, D.C. area Military Police Officers’ Wives’ Club.
She is survived by her husband, Rex; four children, Dave (Claire), of Newport News, Va., Harriet (Dave) Baker, of Virginia Beach, Va., Phyllis (Chris) Woodson, of Franklin, Ga., and Joe (Deborah), of Maplewood, N.J.; nine grandchildren, Drew Holt, Jordan Holt, Melissa Holt, Coleman Baker, Logan Baker, Daniel Woodson, Sawyer Woodson, Owen Holt and Catherine Holt; and her sister, Grace (Homer) Rutledge, of Muscle Shoals, Ala. Peggy was predeceased by sisters, Mary Moore and Catherine Berry.
Burial will take place at 1 p.m. on July 16, 2013, at Arlington National Cemetery.
