  Peggy Best Profile PhotoPeggy Jean Monaghan Best, 85, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 16, 1938 in Nettleton to Shelby and Ruby Laney Monaghan. She attended Becker and Amory schools, and she graduated cosmetology college in Illinois. On November 9,1955, she married the love of their life, James Edward Best Sr., and they have spent 67 beautiful yearstogether. For 27 years, she owned and operated Peggy’s House of Beauty in Amory. After retiring from the beauty shop, Peggy managed several convenient stores in Amory. She loved all things Elvis and enjoyed camping especially with her grandchildren. In addition, she loved to watch car races, rather it be at the track or on the tv. She was also a lifelong member of the Tupelo Elvis Fan Club. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Becker.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Waycaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

In addition to her husband, James Edward Best, she is survived by one son, James Edward Best, Jr. ofAberdeen; one daughter, Jackie Best Armstrong (Victor) of Tupelo; sister, Linda Presley of Amory;grandchildren, Misty Daniel, Jamie Nelson, Marlana McFarland (Richard), Lexie Stewart (Ben), Sandahl Burleson, and Hunter Armstrong; great grandchildren, Zach Khima, Peyton Free (Tyler), Janet Reeves, Rylee Reeves, and Mallory Khima; and one great great grandchild, Peyso Free; grandson-in-law, Lamine Khima; and special caregiver, Tawana Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Janet Elaine Best; brother, Dewey Monaghan;sisters, Frances Hester, Joyce Chism, Patsy Camp, Mary Helen Bright, and Carolyn Wigginton.

Pallbearers will be Victor Armstrong, Richard McFarland, Jamie Nelson, Tyler Free, Zach Khima, Lamine Khima, Neal Roberts, and Ben Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be David Best, Keith Flurry, Wesley Robinson, and William Frederick.

Visitation will be from 1 until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
