Peggy Jane Lee, aged 84, passed away peacefully at her home in New Albany on February 14, 2024. She was born on March 3, 1939, in New Albany, Mississippi to James cook and Linnie Mae Bullock. Peggy was a beloved member of her community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
While attending Fellowship Baptist Church she met and married the love of her life, Jerry Leon Lee, with whom she was married to for 64 years before he passed away last year.
She is also preceded in death by her parents James Cook and Linnie Mae Bullock, her brother Paul Cook, sister, Frances Gilliam, brothers Vance Cook, Robert Cook and David Cook. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Russell (Jackie) and Dwayne Lee (Mary), her grandchildren Trent Russell, Evan Russell, Jared Lee, Jacob Lee, Torrie Willard, Jessica Lee, her great-grandchildren Raena Lee, Roman Lee, Walter Russell, Rhiannon Russell, Emma Kate Willard, Addie Reece Willard and Jackson Williard.
Peggy had many hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She had a green thumb and found joy in gardening and tending to her flowers. Her gardens were always filled with vibrant colors and fragrant scents, a true testament to her love for spending time outdoors.
Cooking was another one of Peggy’s talents. She delighted in preparing delicious meals and baked goodies for both family and friends. Her kitchen was often the heart of gatherings, where laughter and warmth were shared. Peggy also expressed her creativity through painting and crafting. She was known for adding razzle dazzle and vibrant colors at any opportunity.
Above all else, Peggy cherished spending time with her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought immense happiness into her life, and she embraced every opportunity to create beautiful memories with them. She attended Church of Faith Assembly of God and became a member of Bethlehem Church in later years.
The services honoring Peggy’s life will be held at Glenfield Funeral Home on February 17, 2024. The visitation will begin at 12:30 PM followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2:00 PM. Peggy will be laid to rest at Glenfield Memorial Park. Bro. Jeff Lawerence will be officiating the services.
Peggy Jane Lee’s legacy will live on through the hearts and minds of all those who were blessed to have known her.
