  Peggy Head Profile PhotoPeggy Jane Head, 82, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a brief illness. She was born July 15, 1941 in Smithville, MS to the the late Carl and Claude Pearson. She married the love of her life, Billy Wayne Head, on April 21, 1961. Peggy graduated from Hatley School in May 1961. She enjoyed playing basketball while she was in school.

Through the years, she worked as a seamstress for the public at Amory Garment Company, and then retired in 1999 as the lunch room manager for Hatley Schools. She and Billy attended Paine Memorial United Methodist Church in Athens.

Peggy was a selfless and loving person who never met a stranger and loved to laugh. She was the same no matter who she was around. Peggy loved her family, neighbors, and friends. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cross stitching, cooking, and diamond painting.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Wayne of 62 years; her daughter, Belinda (Andy) of Bentonville, Arkansas; her son, Tommy (Sonya) of the Athens Community; her grandchildren, Brittany (Don) Hardcastle of Salpulpa, Oklahoma; Caleb (Megan) Carter of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Maggie Head of Amory and Fiancé Ethen Harrelson of Saltillo; her great grandchildren, Braxton and Bentley Lasley. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis (Pat) Pearson of Hatley and sister Glenda (Greg) Smith of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: W.C., Lee Roy, Billy Gene, Herman, and Steve Pearson, and sisters: Jewel Howell, Mary Ann Cantrell, Frances Isbell, Ernestine Roberts, and Judy Dove, and special friend, Sharon Odom.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 2 P.M. at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Washburn officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the service time at 2 PM on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Van Pearson, Jeff Pearson, Anthony Pearson, Alan Pearson, Lloyd Pearson, and David Pickle.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Pearson, Timothy Pearson, Boyd Pearson, Dayton Farrar, Brock Pearson, Johnny Cantrell, and Nick Cantrell.
