Peggy Godfrey Spratling passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fl. Formerly of Albertville, Al., Peggy was born in Ludowici, Ga on May 3, 1933. Her childhood in South Georgia was full of joy. She spent summers dancing under the lighthouse on Saint Simons Island and crabbing on the coast. She played high school basketball for the Ludowici Blue Tide and was fiercely competitive. Peggy was married for 68 years, a testament to a lifetime of love and commitment. Peggy left South Georgia and embarked on a life of adventure as a military wife with three daughters. The assignments ranged from California to North Africa. She made each location a home as well as an adventure. Her home was always filled with love and many celebrations with family, friends, and food. She cherished her role as a Mother and
Grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were a source of immense pride. She was at her best supporting and attending events recognizing her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments, and there were many. She willingly answered the call to participate in the ministries of the Methodist Church throughout her life. She raised her children with strong Christian values and taught them to show kindness and respect to all. Her life was an example of 1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you shall use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace.”
