Peggy Diann Ashburn, age 80, of Arab, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at
her residence. Mrs. Ashburn was born August 20, 1943 in Madison County, Alabama daughter
of James Louis Baird and Buaron Elizabeth Elder Baird. Peggy and her husband, Lemuel Dale
Ashburn, shared over 30 years together. She was a registered nurse and worked in hospitals.
Peggy’s greatest love was her family and her pets. She thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent
with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her 2 dogs, and 3 cats. She spent leisure
time shopping, reading or sewing.
Left behind to cherish their memories include husband, Dale Ashburn; son, John Shirah,
daughters, Jennifer Durham (Philip), Darlene Sheppard (Keith), LaChelle Collier, and Barbara
Pierce (Brett); seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceding Peggy in death include her parents, James and Buaron Baird and her siblings, Pete
Baird and Lynn Winn.
The family has elected cremation and no formal services are planned at this time.
