Peggy Compton, 93, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the North MS Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1931, in Jackson, TN to Floyd and Virgie Roberts. She was a longtime pharmacy tech working for Jackson Clinic in Jackson, TN and Medisav Drugs in Sardis. She was a Christian and attended the Methodist Church for many years. She loved to read, working puzzles and oil painting. Didn’t a week go by that she didn’t get her hair done. After moving to The Meadows two years ago, she made many new friends with the residents and staff. She loved their cooking. Even as a diabetic, she had to have her sweets, especially some pecan pie. Her greatest love was her family and she spent as ,much time with them as possible.
Services will be 11 AM Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gene Conwill officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Pam Hill (David) of Nettleton and Bill Compton of Arlington, TN; her nieces and nephews, Bill Hilliard, Brad Hilliard, Robin Sanders and Tracey Friddle; her bonus daughter, Kim Pongetti (Joey); her bonus grandson, McKenzie Morgan and a special friend, Becky Scott.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Compton; her brother, Darrell Roberts and her sister, Shirley Hilliard.
Visitation will be 10 – 11 Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn., the American Diabetes Assn, or to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff in the ICU at the North MS Medical Center for their excellent care and the staff of The Meadows for their compassion and loving care over the last couple of years.
