Pedestrian Killed Near Fort Payne; ALEA Looking For INformation

FORT PAYNE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency released a statement concerning a single-vehicle accident that left the scene of an accident after striking a victim and fatally injuring him.  The ALEA is asking for any information concerning this accident:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. Thursday, August 4, has claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Pedro Cazares-Castaneda, 50, of Rainsville was fatally injured when he was struck by a grey sports utility vehicle (SUV) while standing in the roadway. The vehicle left the scene of the crash and is unknown at this time. Cazares-Castaneda was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 176 near Dekalb County 297, approximately six miles south of Fort Payne, in Dekalb County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
