Pearl Smith Griggs Wallace of Waynesboro was born July 6, 1915 in Lawrenceburg, TN the daughter of the late William Lewis and Myrtle Pearl Fitzpatrick Smith. Mrs. Wallace departed this life on October 27, 2016 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 101 Years, 3 Months, 21 Days. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Maynard Griggs and 2nd husband George Wallace. Mrs. Wallace, a homemaker, enjoyed shopping and quilting. She was a member of Leatherwood Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Charles M. Griggs and wife Patsy of Waynesboro, TN; a daughter, Deborah Griggs of Humboldt, TN; two brothers, Clyde Smith of Toledo, OH and Maynard Smith and wife Judy of Waynesboro, TN; and a sister, Mary Nell Pierce of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Regina Gardner, Vhonda Griggs, and Jason Griggs, and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by a son, Kermit Griggs; five brothers, Louis, Walter, Cecil, Guy, and Louis Allen Smith.
Services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with Mitchell Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery near Waynesboro with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge.
Visitation will be Friday fro, 6:00-8:00, PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Jason Griggs, Taylor Griggs, Robert Smith, Lowell Smith, and Floyd (Babe) Staggs.
